Say Goodbye to Damp and Mould In 2016

The New Year is the perfect opportunity to have a fresh start and rid your home of common household problems such as condensation, damp and mould. Left untreated, these issues can cause serious damage to your home which could cost thousands of pounds to repair. Mould and damp can also pose a serious threat to your health and can cause respiratory difficulties and severe allergic reactions.

Here are some tips for removing damp and mould from your home in 2016!

Improve Ventilation

Before you start the treatment of damp and mould you should think about the ventilation in your home. Excess moisture, otherwise known as condensation, can build up on surfaces and after a while will cause damp and/or mould. There are many simple steps that you can take to reduce the moisture in the air. Firstly, you should try to open windows and turn on extractor fans when you are doing tasks which create steam such as showering and cooking. Where possible, try to dry clothes outside as this is one of the most common culprits when it comes to condensation. This should be much easier to do when the weather warms up!

Treatment

Once you have addressed ventilation, you can then consider the best treatment for your home. There are many different options available and which one you require will depend on the type of damp or mould that is affecting the property and how bad it is. Dampkits range of products include damp proofing, paint additives, floor coatings and eradication kits. You can see our extensive list of products here.
